The Company
We, the UK’s largest packaging distributor have an exciting opportunity for an experienced new business sales hunter to come and represent us. You will join our successful Horsham team and enjoy a challenging and rewarding territory sales role. We are a committed equal opportunities employer that champions ‘dignity in the workplace.’ Our focus is to provide customers with fully integrated and innovative packaging solutions, augmented by outstanding customer service. Appointing and nurturing sales talent across our business is key to our continued growth.
The Business Development Manager Role
Reporting to the Sales Manager, this Business Development sales role is very much business development/new client acquisition focused. Whilst you will also have some existing customer accounts to manage, you will spend most of the time on the road/in the field attending meetings to identify, on-board and develop new customer accounts. You will plan your own approach to identify and target potential end users, undertaking a range of cold-calling and marketing led approaches, following up, fixing your own appointments and critically, attending key meetings to discuss customer needs and tailor packaging solutions. You will be comfortable in preparing proposals/quotations and closing deals, ensuring that new customers are on-boarded effectively. There will be some stretching, but realistic targets set for sales growth, designed to motivate, and reward a genuine sales ‘hunter’ who enjoys fostering & developing new customer relationships.
Business Development Manager Key Responsibilities
Do you have the correct profile?
We would love to hear from you if you are an experienced sales professional who can boast a strong demonstrable track-record within a similar new business/client acquisition role. You will be an effective negotiator, with the ability to actively build strong relationships via first class communication and influencing skills. You will enjoy genuinely ‘adding value’ to customers as your prior experience will already have seen you selling a solution. We would naturally prefer someone to have a packaging/print or affiliated background (3PL/Distribution or lower margin/higher volume products would all represent a potential fit). The individual we are seeking to hire will naturally be highly self-motivated with a ‘will to win,’ highly competitive and enjoy the ‘thrill’ of chasing and securing new customers. Coupled with this, the ideal candidate will be well disciplined in using internal systems (CRM) and completing reports and associated sales administration. A full valid UK driving license is essential and we would prefer someone to reside ‘on patch’ within the stipulated territory.
We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds irrespective of your age, gender, disability, race, nationality, ethnicity, gender identity, religion, or sexual orientation.
