Macfarlane Group PLC is the UK’s largest packaging distributor and we are seeking to hire an experienced Procurement Manager to join our established team in Milton Keynes. The Procurement Manager Role  

Working as a member of our local procurement team, this role will support both the local Milton Keynes site and our company wide National procurement strategy. You shall be responsible for managing the local procurement team, leading by example whilst remaining hands on in day to day supplier management and engagement as well as leading on key projects. This appointment is therefore integral to the success of the business, with the successful candidate supporting the management and development of the regional supplier base.

Procurement Manager Key Duties

  • Responsible for daily management of the purchasing team at site, including all coaching, training and development, allocating workload and prioritise/delegating effectively
  • Managing and developing the supplier base to deliver maximum service for lowest cost and in line with KPI requirements
  • Ensuring that the site’s purchasing transactions are carried out in the most cost effective manner.
  • Liaising with Central Procurement teams to ensure site strategy reflects that of the companies
  • Manage the tender process in the most efficient way.
  • Support new product development and undertake reporting & statistical analysis
  • Ensure effective communication of the purchasing strategy throughout the site
  • Management and responsibility of the ‘On Time In Full measurement’ for site.

Do you have the correct profile?

In order to apply you must already have a minimum of 18 months experience at procurement/purchasing manager level and be accustomed to managing a small team, prioritising ever changing workloads. This will have given you exposure to the majority of the key duties listed above and you may well already have embarked upon your CIPS studies (Macfarlane are happy to sponsor the successful candidate with this). Any prior experience of working within a fast-paced sales/distribution based organisation would be advantageous but most essential to the role is strong management, commercial acumen communication and negotiation skills, the ability to perform in a pressurised environment and deliver against often exacting timeframes. It is also important that you have strong interpersonal skills when dealing with internal colleagues and departments
