Hours: Full Time (37.5 Monday to Friday only)
Basic Annual Salary up to £19,000 per annum (dependant on experience) plus Bonus & Company Benefits

Macfarlane Group PLC is the UK’s largest packaging distributor and we are seeking to hire a Commercial Assistant to help support our established purchasing team based in Gloucester. The Commercial Assistant Role
We have the need to hire an experienced individual who can come on board and provide direct support to our specialist luxury packaging procurement team based at our Gloucester Distribution Centre. Working within a fast-paced office environment and undertaking a variety of core duties, you will work closely with and provide daily support to the sales /purchasing team.

Key Duties

  • Supporting and coordinating commercial activities for PRP. (i.e. to assist with key projects, updating tracker for enquiries, samples, etc)
  • Handling and processing internal and external quotations  (luxury packaging knowledge recommended)
  • Processing a limited number of customer orders
  • Organising preparing and tracking samples
  • Liaising with the branches (buyers) to follow enquiries
  • Supporting company activities (i.e. exhibitions & customer visits to Innovation Lab)
  • Updating price lists and communicate to the RDC
  • Handling telephone conversations and processing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Responding to incoming internal inquiries from multi-site locations
  • Attending, recording and transcribing minutes at internal meetings
  • Updates monthly sales report
  • Compiles and maintaining up-to-date contact data
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Managing office supplies
  • Archiving
  • Supporting purchasing activities (working closely with local purchasing lead)


Do you have the correct profile?

  • Minimum 1-2 years of commercial office based experience,
  • Preferably having worked within a busy/fast passed environment (you will be used to handling multiple enquiries and prioritising your own workload).
  • Strong administrative background, reactive and highly organised
  • Packaging experience is recommended (not necessary)
  • Strong PC skills incorporating MS Office
  • Strong numerical acumen
  • positive ‘can do’ attitude with excellent communication/customer service skills
