Package: Up to £25,000 plus bonus & company benefits

We are now seeking to hire an Assistant / Technical Designer to join our brand-new Innovation Lab in the Northwest.
 
The Assistant Designer Role
As part of the design team, your role will play a critical part in the delivery and success of the Macfarlane Packaging Innovation Lab. You will provide innovative and tailored design solutions for both our existing and potential customers. Working within the Innovation Team you will ensure not only direct cost savings are achieved, but also indirect cost savings are met, through constantly striving to make improvements in productivity for our customers.
 
Assistant Designer – Key Skills
Reporting to Head of Design, your core responsibilities will include:- 

  • Taking briefs and using various design software you will be creating solutions for customers
  • Produce finished customer samples and ensure these are logged and sent out in a timely manner
  • Produce colour proofs, 3D visuals and presentations
  • Conduct testing and issue test reports
  • Manage facility inventory of consumables, materials and samples
  • Providing tailored solutions to all our customers, whilst ensuring you take a caring approach to their business requirements and challenges
  • Working with our customers you will ensure goals are met, whilst considering branding, safety, and cost implications

Do you have the correct profile?
You will be enthusiastic and motivated – enjoying the buzz and challenge of a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be IT literate with strong time management and prioritization skills. You will have a real team spirit and be able to build relationships with internal and external partners. Please note that to apply for this role, you must possess a degree level qualification (or above) in Product Design (2:1 or above) and ideally a minimum of 12 months commercial workplace experience. From an IT perspective, you must have an excellent grasp of MS Office and Adobe Illustrator, but also ideally some working knowledge of either Solid Works or SketchUp Pro. Any additional experience of using Artios, or Kasemake would also be a huge bonus (although not essential as training can be provided).
